Paper Trails Exhibition
Wilbur the Walleye, Whom you heard about last month made it to the show.
View Arts Center is partnering with the Guild of American Papercutters (GAP) to showcase an artform largely unknown in our region, but found in different forms throughout the world. It is called Scherenschnitte in Germany, Wycinanki in Poland, Jianzhi in China, and Papel Picado in Mexico. “Paper Trails” references our trail-filled Adirondack home as well as the paths papercutting has followed from its origins to the U.S.. This juried exhibition includes works of original design that are created with scissors, craft knife, and even sheep shears.
The Guild of American Papercutters was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Somerset, PA, where it operates the National Museum of Papercutting. Its members, both national and international, range from beginner papercutters to professional, full-time artists and teachers.
More information about GAP and becoming a member can be found at https://www.papercutters.org.

November News
Greetings and Happy Fall!
This past month, I once again filled my time with exploration of the North Woods. This time, I headed to Grand Marias, MN for a week-long residency at the Grand Marais Artist Colony. I spent my days photographing and sketching waterfalls scattered along the North Shore of Lake Superior. In the evening, I retreated to the warm print-shop where I experimented with color and new printmaking techniques. It was an amazing time away and great to focus on nature and my artistic practice. The bonus was meeting my studio mate and the staff at the Artist Colony.
