Wilbur the Walleye, Whom you heard about last month made it to the show.
View Arts Center is partnering with the Guild of American Papercutters (GAP) to showcase an artform largely unknown in our region, but found in different forms throughout the world. It is called Scherenschnitte in Germany, Wycinanki in Poland, Jianzhi in China, and Papel Picado in Mexico. “Paper Trails” references our trail-filled Adirondack home as well as the paths papercutting has followed from its origins to the U.S.. This juried exhibition includes works of original design that are created with scissors, craft knife, and even sheep shears.
The Guild of American Papercutters was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Somerset, PA, where it operates the National Museum of Papercutting. Its members, both national and international, range from beginner papercutters to professional, full-time artists and teachers.
