My kayak launched into the pristine water of the Bark River and the exploration began. It was the first of many adventures. Nestled into my kayak looming cattails surround me and dance in the wind like skyscrapers. Sunlight glistened across the surface of the water creating a meditative mirage of light and shadow, I was lost in the moment. Suddenly, a single white bloom interrupted my vision, poking it’s head just above the surface of the mirage. The sunlight kissed the surface of each petal like silk catching the light.  Enamored by the beauty, I pondered the stages that each of these blooms were in.  Some were growing below the surface not yet ready to kiss the heat of the sun. Yet others tucked away, protected by the towering cattails. And a choice few, delighted in the flow of the current; cheerfully greeting all the weekend water warriors amongst their vessels. 

Just as the water lilies were in their own stages of the life cycle so are we as individuals. I created each painting with the final owner in mind.
